Why does my electric hob always seem to stay at the same temperature?
If the temperature of your electric hob stays the same even when you adjust the dials, it could be a problem with the internal thermostat. Your engineer will be able to tell you if this part needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Why doesn’t my electric hob heat up?
The number one reason why an electric hob doesn’t heat up is a lack of power. This could be something as simple as a power surge causing the timer to blow. If your cooker is getting power but not actually heating up, it could be due to an issue with the heating element.
Why doesn’t the flame on my gas hob ignite?
This is a common problem and usually a sign that there’s something disrupting the flow of gas to the hob. Give the hob a good clean and make sure the covers are on properly to see if that helps. If it doesn’t, an engineer can check to see if there’s an issue with your gas supply.
Why won’t my tumble dryer switch on?
The problem could be to do with your timer switch, some faulty wiring or an issue with the door not closing properly.
Why won’t my tumble dryer spin?
If your tumble dryer won’t spin, it might be a problem with the drive belt that turns the drum. If you can easily turn the drum by hand, the belt needs to be replaced. If it’s not the belt, you may have to replace other faulty internal components.
Why is my washing machine leaking?
The most common reason why a washing machine leaks is that the rubber seals around your washing machine door have started to perish. Fortunately, they’re easy to replace.
Why doesn’t my dishwasher work?
If your dishwasher is making a humming noise, there could be an issue with your dishwasher’s motor. If that’s not the case, then it could be a blockage or wiring problem that an engineer can diagnose and fix.
Why doesn’t my fridge get cold?
The first thing to do if your fridge doesn’t feel very cold is to check the temperature dial to make sure it’s set at the right level. If the dial is ok, then the rubber seal on your fridge door could be damaged or you might have an issue with your air damper or thermostat.
Why is my fuse box regularly tripping out?
Everyday appliances like tumble dryers, hair dryers and space heaters can use a lot of energy, and this can trip circuit breakers, particularly if you’re using a lot of high energy items at the same time. It’s nothing to worry about. In fact, circuit breakers are designed to protect you and your home. If it’s annoying, then try to limit the number of electrical items you’re using on the same circuit at any one time.
Why aren’t my light switches and dimmer switches working?
If you’ve got switches in your house that don’t seem to do anything, it could just be that the lights or other items they used to operate have been removed. If they’re still there, then it could be a fault in the outlet, circuit, or wiring. Dimmer switches that don’t seem to alter the brightness of your bulbs could be older or faulty models that just need updating.
Why does my home get a lot of electrical surges?
If you get a lot of electrical surges, it’s best to consult a professional to diagnose and fix the fault.
