If we supply your home with gas or electricity through a smart meter, British Gas Trading Limited is the data controller for the personal data we collect from your smart meter.
This privacy notice explains what data we collect from your smart meter and how we use it. It also explains your rights in relation to this data.

British Gas Home Services and your personal data
For our HomeCare and On-Demand services, the data controller is British Gas Services Limited.
For our Central Heating and Installations services and our warranty, the data controller is British Gas New Heating Limited.
Our HomeCare and On-Demand and Central Heating and Installations services are referred to as the “Services” below.

British Gas and your personal data: ECO
Under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme large energy suppliers, including British Gas, have to install energy efficiency measures into domestic homes.
Where British Gas has funded the energy efficiency installation which will take place or has recently taken place in your home as part of the ECO scheme, the data controller is British Gas Trading Limited.

When we are your Feed-in Tariff Licensee, the data controller is British Gas Trading Limited.

It describes the processing activities that are carried out by British Gas in relation to our Feed-in Tariff Scheme, the purposes for which these activities are performed and the legal bases that British Gas relies upon for these processing activities.

British Gas and bodyworn cameras
This privacy notice extends the privacy notices relating to residential and business energy supply and it should be read in conjunction with those privacy notices. This privacy notice relates specifically to British Gas’s use of bodyworn cameras – these are visible, non-concealed, cameras worn by some of our field agents, which make audio and video recordings.
The data controller is British Gas Trading Limited, which is one of the companies in the Centrica group.
Glen Dimplex tariff
This privacy notice extends the privacy notices relating to residential energy supply and smart meters, and it should be read in conjunction with those privacy notices. This privacy notice relates specifically to British Gas’s “Glen Dimplex Quantum” tariff – this tariff enables users of a Glen Dimplex Hub and Glen Dimplex G9 Quantum Storage Heaters (or G6, G7, G8, Y or Z models that have been upgraded so that they are Radio Frequency compatible) to benefit from cheaper electricity during the specified night hours compared to the specified day hours.
The data controllers within the Centrica group are British Gas Trading Limited and Centrica Energy Marketing Limited. We share data with National Grid, Distribution Network Operators, and Distribution System Operators, which will be controllers in their own rights.
Samsung PeakSave Privacy Notice
This privacy notice extends the privacy notices relating to residential energy supply and to smart meters, and it should be read in conjunction with those privacy notices.
This privacy notice relates specifically to British Gas's Peak Save promotion for smart appliances through Samsung SmartThings Application. This promotion enables British Gas's customers who are also users of Samsung SmartThings Application to control smart appliances and benefit from cheaper electricity during the specified hours. It also enables these to benefit from reducing their energy consumption during peak times, including during British Gas's Winter Turn Down events.
The data controllers within the Centrica group are British Gas Trading Limited, British Gas Services Limited and Centrica Energy Marketing Limited. We share data with Samsung, National Grid, Distribution Network Operators, and Distribution System Operators, which will be controllers in their own rights; please see below for more information about this.
